Project Spotlight: See the Vision

Building the Future: The Morgan Hall Renovation Project

MSU-Northern is moving forward with an exciting vision to transform Morgan Hall, one of the university’s primary residence halls, into a modern, welcoming space that meets the needs of today’s students.

For generations, Morgan Hall has been more than a place to sleep, it’s been a place where friendships form, study sessions stretch late into the night, and memories are made that last a lifetime. Now, Northern is taking steps to revitalize this beloved building, ensuring it remains a vibrant part of campus life for decades to come.

The Morgan Hall Residence Project will update common areas and bathrooms to create a comfortable, community-focused environment that supports student success. Plans include new furnishings, and improved accessibility throughout the building.

“This project isn’t just about renovating a building,” said Melanie Skoyen, Director of the MSU-Northern Foundation. “It’s about investing in the student experience. Morgan Hall has housed generations of Northern students, and these improvements will help ensure it continues to feel like home.”

This project is being funded through private donations, and the MSU-Northern Foundation is seeking community partners, alumni, and friends of Northern to help make this vision a reality. Every gift plays a meaningful role in creating a better living and learning environment for students. Naming opportunities are available for community spaces within the hall, allowing donors to leave a lasting mark on campus.
