MSU-Northern Receives $1.85 Million Gift from Terry Mohn Estate

The MSU-Northern Foundation is honored to announce a generous $1.85 million gift from the estate of Terry L, Mohn of Scobey, MT. This transformational donation will support student scholarships and renovations to Morgan Hall.

A portion of the funds will establish a scholarship endowment, providing approximately $30,000 annually to students pursuing a degree in diesel or agriculture with a preference for students from Daniels, Roosevelt, Sheridan, and Valley counties. This gift will add to MSU-Northern’s existing endowments and standalone scholarship funds, which already generate over $500,000 in scholarships per year, further expanding opportunities for students.

Though Mohn was not an MSU-Northern alumnus, he had strong connections to the university through his good friends, Willard and Bonnie Fladager. He also valued Northern’s role in preparing skilled professionals, hiring its graduates and recognizing its impact on the workforce. His legacy gift will ensure that future generations of students have opportunities to succeed in agriculture and related fields.

Additionally, a portion of the donation will contribute to renovations for Morgan Hall, enhancing campus living spaces for students.

“We are deeply grateful for Terry Mohn’s vision and generosity,” said Foundation Director Managing Melanie Skoyen. “His support will have a lasting impact on students and the university for years to come.”
